Originally from Syria, Amal has been living in Banff since 2018. He is a an author, photographer, and visual artist. He has won awards and grants both for his photography & writing, and was a recepient of the Banff Community Wellbeing Grant two years in a row.
The etymology of the word Photography originates from Greek, literally meaning "writing with light." I beleive every photograph should be a reflection of its greek meaning, a unique story written with light. My approach privilages character and uniqueness over standards.
According to Clarice Lispector, every photo should be a photo of the Mona Lisa. I take my portraits with such a belief. A generic picture is a waste of a picture.
